The Diwali festivities commenced on 29 October with the auspicious Lakshmi Pujan on Dhanteras, in the presence of Brahmaviharidas Swami, other swamis and devotees. Devotees across the UAE and worldwide participated via a live broadcast to offer prayers for peace and prosperity.
On the evening of 30 October, Kali Chaudas was observed through a traditional Hanuman Puja conducted by BAPS swamis.
On Diwali, 1 November, devotees from across the UAE participated in the Sharda Pujan to pray for success and happiness for all in the coming year.
On both the Hindu New Year Day, 2 November, and Bhai Bij, 3 November, a grand Annakut was offered to the deities, comprising hundreds of freshly prepared vegetarian sweet and savoury dishes made by volunteers. To mark the beginning of the Hindu New Year, prayers were offered for abundance in the year ahead.
Before the Mandir’s seven shrines, each dedicated to revered deities from across India, the food offerings were exquisitely and artistically displayed: The Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj shrine embodied the ‘Lotus in the Desert’ theme, representing the Mandir's harmonious presence in Abu Dhabi. The Ram Parivar shrine featured a recreation of Ram Setu, with delicacies flowing like water around stones inscribed with 'Shri Ram', paying homage to the sacred bridge of Ramayan lore. At the Shiv Parivar shrine, Kailash Parvat and Mansarovar were crafted from dry fruits and pulses, invoking divine serenity. The Jagannathji shrine incorporated chariots featuring wheels formed of sweets and savoury treats based on the famour Rathyatra of Jagannath Puri. The Radha-Krishna shrine displayed vibrant peacock forms and the Shri Padmavati-Srinivas shrine featured South Indian decor, highlighting the region’s culture through traditional foods. The Swami Shri Ayyappaji shrine showcased the sacred 18 steps of Sabarimala, each step ornamented with offerings.
The Annakut celebrations attracted thousands of visitors, bringing together families, friends, and individuals from diverse backgrounds to witness and participate in the vibrant Hindu traditions.
The festivities also featured captivating performances by various Indian communities at the Swaminarayan Ghat, with classical dances, chanting, and traditional singing with the Mandir in the backdrop.
