Chāturmās is a holy period of four months in the Hindu calendar during which devotees undertake additional religious observances. During this time, pārāyans (scriptural discourses) are held at BAPS mandirs and centres around the world.
This year, senior swamis from India – Somprakashdas Swami and Narayancharandas Swami, who served as a personal attendant to Pramukh Swami Maharaj for over 35 years – presided over more than 40 of these discourses throughout the UK and parts of Europe.
They offered their wisdom on a variety of themes based on the Shri Harililamrut, the Vachanamrut, the Shrimad Bhagavad Gita, and other scriptures.
The discourses provided spiritual enrichment through theological insight and practical guidance to the thousands who attended.
This year’s pārāyans also provided a unique opportunity to delve deeper into the life and virtues of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Mahant Swami Maharaj as witnessed and experienced by both swamis. Their presentations captivated audiences with musical and visual interludes to support their narrations.
