More than 200 people – from toddlers through to senior citizens – came together to participate in the BAPS Annual Charity Walk themed ‘In the Joy of Others’ on Saturday 20th July at St. Catherine’s Park, Lucan.
The participants walked, in a fun-filled family and community event that raised vital funds for various good causes.
The funds raised during the walk will support BAPS’s multifarious educational, community, and spiritual activities in Dublin, Ireland, which serves children, youths, families, and the elderly.
The 2024 Challenge will also support BAPS Ireland’s local charity partner Irish Cancer Society, an organization dedicated to the fight against cancer and providing crucial support to those affected.
The enjoyable, healthy day out with friends and family made a real, lasting impact by promoting active lifestyles and supporting the work of local charities and good causes.
Senator Emer Currie, Councillor Caroline Brady, Councillor Punam Rane and various other community leaders were also present at the opening ceremony and participated in a walk. In a short address before the walk began Senator Emer Currie, Councillor Caroline Brady and Councillor Punam Rane thanked BAPS Ireland for its continuing efforts in serving the wider community.
Amit Patel a leading volunteer for BAPS in Dublin, Ireland explained the purpose of the walk, explained the message of Pramukh Swami Maharaj - In the Joy of Others, followed by the chanting of Vedic Shanti Path by BAPS Ireland Balika Mandal Team. Volunteer Krunal Soni read blessings received from Mahant Swami Maharaj where he sent his blessings and prayers for the success of this very first Charity Walk in Dublin, Ireland.
It was indeed very encouraging to see so many children as well as senior members of the community joining in, which truly shows what people can accomplish when they work together; and many members of the community appreciated these efforts by the BAPS Ireland team and have also committed to continue to support such initiatives by the BAPS Ireland Team.
