Ms Namgya C. Khampa, the High Commissioner of India and PR to UNEP & UN-Habitat, visited the BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Nairobi.
Her Excellency Namgya Khampa, arrived at the mandir at 6.35 p.m. and was received warmly by senior women and men devotees and volunteers. After darshan in the main mandir, where Ms. Namgya performed the evening arti, Her Excellency was fascinated to learn about the designs, carvings and construction of the mandir and the materials used.
Her Excellency then offered abhishek on the murti of Shri Nilkanth Varni while the Shanti Path was recited. Thereafter, she learnt about the history of the Nairobi Mandir and viewed the Glorious India exhibition.
Her Excellency then arrived at Pramukh Sadan to formally open the new Mahila Pravrutti Central Office. Here, she was given an overview of the Sanstha’s activities that cater to different age groups and role of the MPCO office.
Her Excellency then attended the ongoing Mahila Parayan, where she was welcomed with a garland and mementoes. In her speech to the assembly, she shared her experience of feeling profound stillness since arriving on the campus. She highlighted the importance of spiritual leaders in instilling great values and offering a platform for teaching the younger generation our culture through music classes, Gujarati and Sanskrit. She also mentioned that the continuity of Satsang through the generations was remarkable and a great indicator of success.
