The 75th United Nations Day and 4th International Day of Diplomats was hosted and celebrated by the Consul General of India in Dubai, HE Dr. Aman Puri. A delegation of 30 consul generals and diplomats representing Afghanistan, Iraq, Uzbekistan, Sudan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Ghana, Kenya, Indonesia, Philippines and other countries were present. The purpose of the occasion was to recognize the critical role played by the diplomatic cadre in maintaining and building global harmony, fraternity and peace amongst nations.
Representing BAPS, Brahmavihari Swami delivered an enlightening keynote address that inspired the diplomatic cadre. He emphasized that the need of the hour was for global harmony, peace and fraternity; and that these values should not remain as beautiful ‘nouns’ but be made into ‘verbs’ and transformed into tangible action. The Hindu ideal of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ – ‘The world is one family’ – is reflected in the ways of the UAE leadership, which has made global harmony and peace the bedrock of their international relations. It is perhaps the only country that has a Ministry of Tolerance. Inspired by His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj and His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Hindu Mandir being built in Abu Dhabi is a testament to the vision of global harmony and peace by the leaderships of India and the UAE. It is a shining example of a new world of tolerance, peace and harmony in action.
HE Dr. Ahmed Al Banna, the UAE Ambassador to India, greatly appreciated the keynote address and re-iterated the strong bilateral ties between India and the UAE. He revealed that India was the first nation the UAE had signed a Strategic Agreement with. Thereafter, some of the consul generals also shared their personal experiences.
Concluding, HE Dr. Aman Puri expressed his gratitude and stated that although social distancing is the new norm due to the pandemic, the diplomatic community is connected from the heart. This connection builds bridges and keeps us closer to each other.
