The auspicious occasions of Shri Swaminarayan Jayanti and Shri Ram Jayanti were celebrated across North America with a program centered on the theme “Adharma Andhaaru Taaliyu” (eradicated the darkness of ignorance). The program focused on the efforts of Bhagwan Swaminarayan in addressing the impact on individuals and communities from vyasan (addiction), vehem (superstitions), vikar (inner darkness) and agnaan (ignorance).
Through skits and short talks, significant historical incidents from Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s life provided insight into society’s role in shaping individual character. At a time when evils of superstitious beliefs preyed on the innocent, Bhagwan Swaminarayan’s Swamis traveled throughout communities educating individuals and uprooting amoral practices under the guise of religion. Examples from the life of Bhagwan Shri Ram were also interspersed, providing inspiration in shaping one’s moral conduct. Additionally, the program drew parallels from the life of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, highlighting examples of his personal efforts in freeing individuals from the grips of addiction and inner evils. Pramukh Swami Maharaj devoted his life to improving the life and character of individuals through his personal guidance and charitable works.
The program concluded with blessings from Pujya Swamis bridging the essential role of mandirs and the Swaminarayan guru parampara in continuing spiritual teachings and inspiring moral conduct. The Swamis conveyed heartfelt appreciation for His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj as he continues such priceless service, unceasingly traveling the world to redeem individuals of worldly tribulations and guide them to ultimate liberation (moksha).
