With the blessings and inspiration of His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Austin, TX was inaugurated on December 7, 2007. Ever since, it has been a focal point of hundreds of devotees, local residents, and community members of the greater Austin area. On November 12, 2017, devotees and well wishers alike celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Mandir which centered on the theme, “My Mandir, My Home".
The momentous occasion was marked by a grand cultural program consisting of devotional songs, traditional dances, dramas and inspirational speeches held at the Klett Performing Art Center in nearby Georgetown, TX. Volunteers spent countless hours preparing for the event including decorating the hall and preparing a colorful Annakut which was offered to Bhagwan. On the day prior to this celebration, a special Women's cultural program was also hosted and well attended.
Over the past ten years many special programs, events, and festivals at the Mandir provided an opportunity for community members to explore and practice Hindu traditions and faith. The Mandir has also been the site of various charitable initiatives that include health fairs, blood drives, and community walkathons for people of all ages – merging the spirit of service with volunteerism. Today, these same programs continue to be encouraged and inspired by His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj.
