His Holiness Pramukh Swami Maharaj departed his mortal body on Saturday, August 13, 2016, at the age of 95. Over 2.1 million devotees from around the world rushed to the village of Sarangpur in Gujarat, India, to pay their last respects before his final rites were performed on Wednesday, August 17, 2016.
On August 21, 2016, special prayer assemblies were organized across North America in memory of Pramukh Swami Maharaj. The atmosphere before the assembly was filled with comforting friends and family.
The assembly began with dhoon and kirtans, infusing the assembly with devotional vibrancy. Attendees shared memories of their uplifting interactions with Pramukh Swami Maharaj, reminiscing upon the heartfelt connection that cemented his influence and wisdom in their lives. Each narrated incident reflected the profound impact Pramukh Swami Maharaj had on the lives of individuals throughout the world. Pujya Swamis, provided a deeper insight into his life, work and teachings and provided the much-needed strength to process his loss. Memories of their Guru coupled with emotions of boundless love and sincere devotion consoled their hearts. The assembly concluded with arti and pujan of the murti of Swamishri, offering devotion and respect.
