Over 550 invited guests and devotees attended the special evening celebration at the prestigious Speke Resort on the banks of Lake Victoria.
The program included the video ‘A Tale of Two Boys’, which depicts the lives of Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Dr APJ Abdul Kalam and how their special friendship arose despite many contrasts in their lives. Videos of a selection of the many interactions between them and some of the inspirations Dr Kalam received from Pramukh Swami Maharaj were also shown.
Brahmavihari Swami narrated in detail his first-hand accounts of some of the meetings and conversations between Dr Kalam and Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Guests included Hon. Kirunda Kivejinja, Deputy Prime Minister, H.E. Dr. AVS Ramesh Chandra, High Commissioner of India to Uganda, H.E. V. Kannanathan, High Commissioner of Sri Lanka to Uganda, Hon. Sam Egola, Minister for Urban and Housing Development, Muzamiru Kibeedi, CEO, Kibeedi Advocates & Company, Hon. Rajnibhai Tailor, President, Hindu Council of Africa, as well as central and local government officials, representatives of banks, NGOs, schools, colleges, universities, and local Hindu, Jain, Muslim and Sikh communities, and other professionals.
Deputy Prime Minister Kirunda Kivejinja, Indian High Commissioner Dr. AVS Ramesh Chandra and Advocate Muzamiru Kibeedi also shared their views on the book, Dr Kalam and Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
Advocate Kibeedi said, “This book ‘Transcendence’ by Abdul Kalam is very addictive. When you start reading, you don’t want to stop. And when you take time off to read, you are not spending that time; it is a worthwhile investment of your time.”
The Transcendence book was inaugurated by the guests on the dais to the accompaniment of Vedic mantras.
