Between 4 July and 15 August 2015, over 500 kishores and kishoris from throughout Australia and New Zealand took part in shibirs held at BAPS Swaminarayan Mandirs in Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne, Sydney and Auckland. These one-day shibirs were based on the theme “My Mandir My Home”. Pramukh Swami Maharaj blessed the shibirs from Sarangpur by sanctifying the shibir materials and mementos.
Through discourses by sadhus, the youths learnt about the how the Mandir plays an integral part in their lives to help them spiritually, and in their studies and careers. They also learnt how the Mandir helps one conquer one’s mind, and excel in different forms of bhakti. In addition, they learnt the need for and benefits of darshan and how to stay attached to the Mandir even when far away.
The youngsters were further guided through interactive activities and group discussions, which demonstrated practical application of the shibir concepts. They also received advice and new insights on performing their daily spiritual rituals.
These shibirs gave the youths inspiration and clarified the important role the Mandir plays in their overall development as individuals.
