With the inspiration and blessings of Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj, the first BAPS Students' Hostel was established in 1965. Since then, Pramukh Swami Maharaj has expanded upon this work and BAPS now operates students hostels in Atladra, Mahesana, Nadiad, Surat, Vidyanagar, Karamsad, Raisan, Ukai, Junagadh, Mount Abu, Bangalore and other places. On the completion of 50 years of this activity, all the BAPS students' hostels are celebrating the 50th year as “BAPS Chhatralay Suvarna Mahotsav Varsh.”
Prior to the preparations for the Suvarna Mahotsav Udghosh Sabha, Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj had sanctified the invitation card and sent his blessings from Sarangpur. After receiving his blessings, preparations for this unique event started in earnest with youths joining in to plan the events. Past student residents of the chhhatralayas (Hostels) were sent invitations.
On 24 May 2015, with the blessings of Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj, the udghosh sabha for the Suvarna Mahotsav began with Bhavnagar chhatralaya in the presence of Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami. The program began at 5.30 pm in the evening with dhun by the chhatralaya youths.
The youths presented how Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj motivated everyone with his regular visits - through Video presentations, dances and Inspiring skits on “Yogibapa na sankalp thaya saakar”, the ground breaking ceremony of Vidyanagar chhatralaya, the memories of sadguru sadhus during the ground breaking ceremony, Gondal Gurukul Sankalp, the opening ceremony for both the chhatralaya and the Gurukul. An awe–inspiring skit was presented showing the love Yogi Bapa had towards the students of the Gurukul and Chhatralaya.
Everyone present became sentimental throughout the last skit, in which the youths presented the ambience of the time when Yogibapa had passed away to Akshardham. The sadguru sadhus, other sadhus and devotees then spoke of their personal experience that Yogibapa is present today through Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Building on the vision set forth by his guru Yogiji Maharaj, Pramukh Swami Maharaj continues to inspire youths to be involved in all aspects of the organization and become productive members of society.
A video presentation on “Swamina sneha na saagar ma” was followed with talks by Vinamramuni Swami and ex-student Sharad Miyani about their experiences with Swami Bapa.
Everyone present then hailed “BAPS Chhatralaya Suvarna Mahotav” followed by a concluding dance “Shubh abhinandan...suvarna mahotsav chhatralaya no.”
