In November and December 2015, many areas in southern India, mainly the city of Chennai, experienced the heaviest rainfall in over a century, with more than 13 inches falling within a 24-hour period. Many people have lost their lives since the rain began in November. Mass flooding has disrupted the health, power and economic infrastructures of the greater Chennai area.
BAPS volunteers responded immediately to the urgent need for food by providing essential grains and cooking oil to local communities across Chennai.
BAPS volunteers continue to aid in the relief work.
