Pramukh Swami Maharaj performed murti-pratishtha at the BAPS Mandir in Savarkundla on 8 March 1976. Subsequently, in 2005, Swamishri consecrated the marble murtis of Shri Akshar-Purushottam Maharaj in the existing mandir.
With the continued growth of Satsang due to the vicharan of BAPS sadhus from Gadhada and the efforts of local devotees, a new mandir was built on Mahuva Road and inaugurated joyously in 2014.
The three-day murti-pratishtha celebrations began with a grand nagar-yatra of the murtis on the afternoon of 29 November 2014.
On the morning of 30 November, over 400 yajmans participated in the Yagna for World Peace. In the afternoon over 1,000 women devotees attended the inspiring Women’s Assembly. At night, BAPS sadhus from Sarangpur presented a melodious program of bhajans.
Previously, on 25 September 2014, Pramukh Swami Maharaj had performed the murti-pratishtha rituals of the murtis for the new mandir. These murtis were ritually consecrated in the new mandir by Pujya Mahant Swami on 2 December 2014.
