The birth anniversary of Brahmaswarup Bhagatji Maharaj was celebrated on Saturday 15 March 2014 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London.
The theme of the evening assembly centred on the spiritual knowledge passed down by Bhagatji Maharaj to Shastriji Maharaj. Youths of various ages enlightened the audience on topics such as Bhagatji Maharaj’s knowledge and his state of spiritual elevation. Interspersed between the various discourses were excerpts sung from the stotra composed by Shastriji Maharaj in praise of Bhagatji Maharaj, ‘Sada Shobhata Dharma Vairagya Gnane’.
Anandpriya Swami spoke about the exemplary control Bhagatji Maharaj possessed over his mind and senses and how he served as an ideal devotee for others. Although spiritually elevated from birth, his life demonstrated how a devotee can attain God-realisation and overcome obstacles arising on the path of devotion.
Satyavrat Swami then addressed the assembly on the relationship between Bhagatji Maharaj and Shastriji Maharaj. He also elaborated on the importance of building a similar spiritual rapport with Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
A video of Pramukh Swami Maharaj celebrating this festival in previous years was shown, followed by Swamishri’s blessings from the past. The resident sadhus of London Mandir then collectively garlanded the murti of Swamishri, concluding the evening’s devotional celebrations.
