A cornerstone of our satsang activities are the weekly satsang assemblies, the 'ravi sabha', started by Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj. The satsang assembly is held at each BAPS center and attended by all satsangis of the center.
In addition to the ravi sabha, weekly kids assemblies, womens assemblies or youth assemblies may also be held, depending on the needs of the center. Each of these assemblies is organized by sadhus and karyakars, as per the guidance from the satsang madhyastha karyalaya.
To encourage the development of the necessary skills to conduct youth satsang assemblies, a special conference-cum-competition (adhiveshan) for BAPS youth activity volunteers was held this year in two stages: regional and inter-regional.
Both stages of the adhiveshan involved six separate components: (i) Satsang Knowledge Questionnaire (ii) Speech Preparation Notes (iii) Speech or Story Telling and Reading (iv) Compering Skills (v) Musical Aptitude (vi) Memorization.
The regional stage was held at 24 venues for male volunteers and 37 venues for female volunteers. Each volunteer had to prepare for the components and present their preparations to the sadhus or senior volunteers who acted as the judges for that activity. The volunteers were graded for their knowledge and preparedness. Top-performing volunteers proceeded to the inter-regional stage, which was held at Bochasan and Sankari for male volunteers, and at Ahmedabad and Navsari for female volunteers. The volunteers with the best combined scores from the six sections were awarded prizes.
