Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj laid the foundation of BAPS Swaminarayan satsang in the state of Punjab in the year 1968. Thereafter, in the year 1969 Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj and in following years sadguru sadhus visited Punjab a number of times. Satsang there has continued to grow steadily.
The Shilanyas ceremony (foundation stone laying) for a new Mandir in Jalandhar took place on 24th February, 2013. Shilas (foundation stone) which had been previously sanctified by Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj were installed at the Mandir construction site amid vedic rituals by Pujya Ishwarcharan Swami. This will be the first BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir in Punjab.
