From Sept 9 to Sept 12, four sadhus from BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha (Bhadreshdas Swami, Chaitanyamurtidas Swami, Paramvivekdas Swami and Mangalnidhidas Swami) visited Kauai Hindu Monastery, on the island of Kauai in the Hawaiian islands. The ashram, headed by Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami, is a South-Indian style monastery-temple complex situated on the tropical garden island and was founded by Satguru Sivaya Subramuniyaswami. The ashram is also home to the Himalayan Academy, publishers of the Hinduism Today quarterly magazine.
While at the ashram, the sadhus from BAPS met with Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami and other monks of the order, partaking in an immersive discussion on the importance of guru-shishya as well as other topics. Bhadreshdas Swami then gifted the Swaminarayan Bhashyam to Satguru Bodhinatha Veylanswami. The Swaminarayan Bhashyam are commentaries on the Prasthantrayi, which Bhadreshdas Swami has authored. Satguruji as well as the monks were overjoyed to hear that the tradition of writing such in-depth commentaries in the classical style is still alive today. The sadhus and monks also engaged in discussions regarding topics related to philosophy and sadhana.
