The 120th birthday of Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj was celebrated over five days at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Mayfair West (Johannesburg). The celebrations began on Tuesday 16 May and featured a nightly discourse series titled ‘Yogi Gita Marma’. Daily, kirtans were sung and videos of Yogiji Maharaj were shown. The main celebration assembly was held on Sunday 20 May, with a cultural program by the kishores and yuvaks. It included a special game of antakshari in which participants were required to narrate incidents from the life of Yogiji Maharaj based on the kirtans they chose.
About 120 devotees attended the nightly discourses and 300 devotees attended the main celebration assembly.
Special separate celebration assemblies were also held by the teenagers and youths, and women devotees.
