To mark the 60th year of the BAPS Youth Wing established by Brahmaswarup Yogiji Maharaj in 1952, a special joint Kishore-Kishori and Yuvak-Yuvati sabha was held on Saturday 25 February 2012 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London, attended by over 600 youths.
To begin the year-long celebrations in the UK, the launch sabha, entitled ‘Celebrating 60 Years of BAPS Youth Activities’, began with the traditional singing of dhun and prarthana, and the deep-pragatya.
Following an inspirational video depicting the establishment of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha with the support of the youths, Shukmuni Swami narrated incidents of youths who have remained steadfast in following their niyam-dharma amid adverse circumstances. The root of such strong character, he explained, was the visionary work of Yogiji Maharaj and, today, the loving guidance of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
The youths then sang the kirtan ‘Aa dehathi shu na thaay re…’ and after a visual presentation of the history of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha, all stood to chorus ‘Nav Yuvano’, filling the assembly hall with a emphatic spirit of samp, suhradbhav and ekta.
All those present were enthused and energised to embark upon the numerous activities and events that have been organised throughout 2012, including a national mahapuja, monthly goshthis on the Yogi Gita, uniformity in sabhas, seva days, and a grand finale on Saturday 22 December 2012 themed ‘Pramukh Swami Maru Sarvasva Chhe.’
