Kishores and kishoris from Luton, Milton Keynes and Wellingborough gathered for a special evening programme held at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, Wellingborough on Friday 26 March 2010. The event was organised to bring together kishores and kishoris from neighbouring towns for an evening of spirituality, fun-filled activities and team-building exercises.
Following registration, guests were given a brief tour of the newly-built mandir, with souvenir photographs taken with Thakorji in front of the main shrine. The evening commenced with the traditional dhun and prarthana sung by kishores representing each centre.
With Swamishri’s emphasis of unity in mind, the first part of the evening concentrated on a team-building exercise, where kishores and kishoris were required to plan and construct objects from items of simple stationery. The groups involved members of all three centres to build and increase the rapport with one another.
After a short touching video of Swamishri, the reassembled groups were then addressed by Yogvivek Swami, who spoke of how Yogiji Maharaj and Pramukh Swami Maharaj have emphasised the importance of ‘samp, suhradbhav and ekta’ tirelessly. In concluding his talk, he stressed the importance of imbibing the values of Satsang to excel spiritually and in one’s education, career and family life.
As the evening ended, a genuine feeling of unity resonated throughout the mandir. All who attended were then treated to a specially prepared Ekadashi meal.
