Bal-Balika and Kishore-Kishori Shibirs were held on 31 July and 1 August 2010 respectively at the Magill Campus of UNISA in Adelaide, Australia. This year’s theme was Hinduism: Discover and Live.
More than 103 balaks and balikas, and 25 kishores and kishoris attended the one-day shibirs which were conducted by Jnanpurush Swami and Adarshmuni Swami. The aim of the shibirs was to teach some of the practical aspects of Hinduism. The participants learnt about universal Hindu rites and rituals such as ahimsa, arti, and daily puja. In the interactive presentations and breakout sessions the youngsters learnt about dharma, punarjanma, karma, guru-disciple relationship, murti puja and other basic Hindu practices and principles.
The youngsters thoroughly enjoyed and were enlightened by the experience. They took vows for daily satsang reading, daily puja and adherence to a pure vegetarian diet before departing.
