Volunteers Appreciation Day was held on Saturday 7 November 2009 at BAPS Shri Swaminarayan Mandir, London in the presence of Atmaswarup Swami, former head of the Mandir.
The day was set aside specifically to appreciate and honour the hundreds of volunteers of BAPS Swaminarayan Sanstha throughout the UK and Europe who give devoutly of their time and talents.
The evening assembly began with devotional singing by kishores and yuvaks before a video presentation was shown of volunteer activities throughout the year.
In his address to the assembly, Atmaswarup Swami, who is currently serving as the head of Swaminarayan Akshardham in New Delhi, lauded the dedicated seva of all the volunteers – young and old, male and female alike.
Earlier, all the volunteers had been treated to a sumptuous meal.
