A series of satsang shibirs for youths and teenagers were recently held in the Asia Pacific Region in the presence of Jnanpurush Swami and Adarshmuni Swami. The theme of the shibirs was ‘Satshastras – Know the Truth’. The main aim of the shibirs was to explain the importance of reading Hindu scriptures on a daily basis and how they can teach us to live a moral life. The shibirs were held at separate times in three different centres throughout the region so that a maximum number of youngsters could participate. The details are:

Sydney: 11-12 July 2009: Total of 70 kishores and kishoris participated from Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Canberra.

Perth: 25-26 July 2009: Total of 90 participants from Perth, including 50 yuvaks.

Auckland: 5-6 September 2009: Total of 120 participants from Auckland and Rotorua, including 45 yuvaks and yuvatis.

The first day of each shibir included key teachings and lessons from some of our sacred Hindu scriptures including the Vedas, Ramayan and Mahabharat. There was also an inspiring presentation on Hinduism in Comparision. The second day focused on Vachanamrut and Swamini Vato and how they encapsulate the main message contained in other Hindu Scriptures. The shibir also focused on Pramukh Swami Maharaj being the Walking Shastra. These topics were covered through inspiring speeches, group sessions presentations, videos and dramas. The shibirs also included sports and team building activities.
All were motivated to daily read a Hindu scripture and were delighted to learn about the truths contained in the Hindu scriptures.
