On Sunday, September 12, 2004 devotees and well-wishers celebrated the festival of Janmashtami with joy and enthusiasm at the BAPS Mandir in Jersey City, New Jersey. Along with a Mahapuja that was arranged in the morning hours, the birth of Lord Krishna was celebrated in the form of an evening assembly sabha. The attendees enjoyed many melodious kirtans, englightening dramas, inspirational discourses, and joyous folk dances. The evening ended with the birth of Lord Krishna to the accompaniment of kirtans like "Nand gher anand bhaiyo" and "Sona na Bor Zule."
