As part of the program organized by the Government of Gujarat in Porbandar (the birthplace of Gandhiji) BAPS were invited to display an annakut of vegetarian delicacies.
Chief Minister of Gujarat inaugurated the mini-village on 2 October 2003, Gandhiji's birthday.
BAPS devotees had prepared an annakut of 1220 vegetarian items, which was displayed in an air-conditioned cabin from 2 to 10 October. Daily from 5.00 to 11.00 p.m. darshan was open to all. More than 150,000 people had darshan of the annakut over the nine days.
A informative and convincing exhibition on the reasons for vegetarianism was also displayed.
Throughout the nine days many dignitaries and people from all over Gujarat visited the displays and were highly pleased and inspired.
