On 17 September 2002, the festival of Jal Jhilani was celebrated in Sarangpur at the river Utavali (Shighra Ganga) in the presence of Pramukh Swami Maharaj.
A beautiful lotus-shaped sinhasan had been placed in the middle of the river. There, after the traditional Vedic pujan rituals, Swamishri blessed the assembly seated on the banks. Then, Swamishri bathed the murti of Shri Harikrishna Maharaj with water from the holy rivers of Ganga, Yamuna, Mansarovar and Utavali.
This sanctified water was then showered upon all the devotees by the sadhus.
Then Swamishri, with Shri Harikrishna Maharaj and Ganapatiji, sat in a boat and after sailing in the river returned to shore where the first of the five artis was traditionally performed. Then they made another round in the river, before returning to shore for the second arti. In this way, five artis were performed.
Finally, at the end of the celebrations, the murti of Ganapatiji was ceremoniously immersed in the river.
Several thousand devotees from India and abroad, attended these celebrations.
The sadhus and many of the devotees had observed a waterless fast, as per the traditional custom and the wishes of Brahmaswarup Shastriji Maharaj.
