The celebrations were two-fold. It has been the tradition of the Swaminarayan Mandir in Sydney to organize a blood donation camp to mark the Janma Jayanti. The camp was organized on 7.12.02. This time the target was to donate 82 bottles. The Australian Red Cross also applauded the efforts of the mandir in crossing 200 bottles within a short span of three years.
The celebrations were held at the Swaminarayan Mandir from 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, 8.12.02. The Bal Mandal presented a skit showing peer pressure in society that could sway them from niyams and how to counter such forces. The Bal Mandal also underlined how much Swamishri loves children. The program was titled as "Swami Na Taraliya".
This was followed by a program from the Kishore Mandal, "Pramukh Swami Maharaj - My Ultimate and Only Idol". The yuvaks along with kishores, presented a Kirtan Aradhna, well rehearsed and very well rendered. The subject of the festival speech was unique. Shri Bipinbhai Mirani enlightened the attendees with the handwriting analysis of Swamishri as done by experts and elaborated on each of the qualities emanating from the analysis.
In the end, the lights in the mandir hall were turned off and replaced by candles in hands of all the devotees. About 300 persons participated in a samuha arti and pujan of Swamishri's murti. The event culminated into delicious mahaprasad (dinner) prepared by the Mahila Mandal.
