The 3rd Annual Walkathon of Boston was held on October 14, 2001. Young and old, everyone took part in this exhilarating event. The motive of this walk was somewhat different from the usual ones. This time, it was to collect monetary aid for the families of the Heroes of the September 11th tragedy. We had a vast range of walkers, including one year old child. Among the crowd, 30 percent of the participants were youngsters under the age of 14. Wherever the procession passed through a thickly settled area, the standing crowd cheered for the walkers. Upon questioning by passers, that why would our community, being Indian, would carry out such an outstanding work or rather a risky thing. There was one strong response "UNITED WE STAND". A reporter from a daily approached one of the Kishores and asked him in detail about the purpose of the Walkathon. The reporter was so impressed that she decided to include the walk in the daily. Such was the outstanding impression on the general audience. It was a huge success.
