Since the earthquake, the BAPS has adopted 8 villages for total reconstruction and rehabilitation.
The Shilanyas ceremonies, signifying the commencement of work, were performed in the villages of Jiyapar and Nanhi Mau by Pujya Mahant Swami on 1 July 2001.
Also, Mahant Swami planted the first tree to launch a tree-planting campaign in which 2,000 trees will be planted.
The BAPS has also continued its help to local business by providing sewing machines to tailors and essential equipment to goldsmiths to carry out their trades.
The BAPS has adopted 125 students to provide them with everything necessary for their studies e.g. uniforms, books, stationary, etc.
Also 3,500 schoolchildren, boys and girls, have been provided with notebooks.
A Medico-Spiritual Conference was held on 30 June 2001 which was attended by over 240 doctors.
