New Swaminarayan Mandir Opened in Loughborough, UK
On Sunday 11 November 2001 on the auspicious day of Ekadashi, a new BAPS Swaminarayan mandir was opened in Loughborough. In the presence of over 500 devotees, Pujya Doctor Swami installed the pictorial murtis of Shri Akshar Purushottam Maharaj, Shri Radha Krishna Dev and the Guru Parampara. The murtis had previously been sanctified by Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj. Following the mahapuja ceremony, Pujya Atmaswarup Swami read out the blessings of Param Pujya Pramukh Swami Maharaj and Pujya Doctor Swami spoke on the role played by mandirs in developing a sound character and leading a moral life.
Yogiji Maharaj had sanctified Loughborough during his visit to the UK in 1970 and it has been blessed many times thereafter by Pramukh Swami Mahraj.
